Does the arena provide skate sharpening?
Yes, the cost is $4 per pair for sharpening or you may buy a punch card: 10 for $24.
Where is the Northfield Ice Arena located?
The Arena is located at 1280 Bollenbacher Dr., just off Highway 3 south to the west. Going south, take a right on Jefferson Parkway, go one block and take left turn onto Bollenbacher Dr. The arena will be on your right.
How many sheets of ice do you have?
One sheet, 196 ft. x 85 ft.
What is the capacity of the facility?
741 during ice season
1874 during dry-land months
What type of ice resurfacing machine do you have?
We have an electric Zamboni.
What is the admission fee for Public Skate?
$3.00 per person
Do you have skates for rental? If so, what does it cost to rent skates?
Yes, in whole sizes. It costs $3.25 per pair for rental.
When is the Arena open for public skate?
Mondays and Thursdays 11:00am to 12:30pm and Sundays from 12:30pm to 2:00pm. Sunday times are 3/4 ice for public skate and 1/3 ice for skate school. Schedule subject to change.
How old do you have to be to participate in adult open hockey? What ability level is expected to participate?
You must be 18 years of age. Beginners to advanced skaters are welcome. Helmets and gloves are required to play. All other equipment is recommended.
Is equipment required for open hockey?
For adult open hockey, a HELMET and Gloves are REQUIRED, and all other gear is recommended.
For youth open hockey ALL equipment is REQUIRED.
Do you have ice times available to rent? If so, what is the charge for ice rentals?
Yes, please call the arena at 645-3017 or email Allison.Watkins@ci.northfield.mn.us for available dates and times. The charge is $145/hour for tax exempt groups and $155 for non-exempt renters during non-primetime hours.
Do you have ice year around?
The regular ice season is from September to March. Look for summer ice during July.
Can the dry-land floor be used for trade shows or other sporting events?
Yes - almost any event can be held on the dry-land floor. The Arena has hosted the Hospital Book Fair, the Jesse James Craft Show, the Home and Garden Show and Piccadilly Circus as well as lacrosse and soccer practices, roller hockey and dry-land training for hockey players.
