The City of Northfield is asking for community members to participate in our annual contests.
Residents can participate by visiting the city’s web page and finding each contest form under the Government menu. The Mayor for a Day Essay Contest form must be downloaded but, new this year, the Ethical Leadership and Board & Commission Member Excellence awards can be submitted online. Please read all eligibility requirements and instructions for each contest.
The Mayor for a Day Essay Contest is a program to engage local 4th and 5th grade students in civic engagement through a written essay contest. This year’s essay question focuses on our park and recreation spaces.
The Ethical Leadership Award is awarded to a junior or senior student enrolled in a Northfield area school who exhibits high standards and demonstrates a consistent approach to excellence as a student.
The Board & Commission Member Excellence Award recognizes an individual member for accomplishments of outstanding worth in advancing and improving public service in the City of Northfield.
March 2, 2020 is the deadline for all three contests. Winners will be announced at the annual State of the City Address at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 16 in the magnificent Kracum Performance Hall, Carleton College Weitz Center.
