Programs & Assistance

Welcome to the Northfield Housing and Redevelopment Authority! The mission of the Northfield HRA is to be a partner in providing a sufficient supply of affordable, adequate, safe, and sanitary dwellings in Northfield. Our goal is to create a community with housing opportunities available along the entire housing spectrum: from renters to homeownership, first-time homeowners to senior living, workforce housing, and empty-nesters. We strive to create affordable housing opportunities and strengthen our neighborhoods utilizing these components:

  • Sustainability
  • Innovation
  • Partnerships
  • Community Input

Housing Programs & Funding
The Northfield HRA has several programs to assist the community with many of their housing needs. By utilizing federal, state, and local resources, we are able to provide the community with an array of opportunities.

Northfield receives funding from several sources to assist the citizens of Northfield. We receive Community Development Block Grant dollars each year to assist with first time homebuyers, manufactured home park programs and neighborhood revitalization efforts.

The City Council has passed a levy each year since 1992 to help fund these programs and others as created by the HRA, such as the Street Assessment Assistance Program, new in 2012. We also use the levy dollars to help leverage for funds from Minnesota Housing Finance Agency to help finance larger projects, like the Jefferson Townhome remodel, the construction of the new Spring Creek Townhomes, and the Veterans Park neighborhood rehab project.
