Picnic Shelters
Three of Northfield’s parks have picnic shelters that can be rented by the public between May and October. The charge for a 1-4 hour rental is $40. The charge for an all day rental is $60.Please call 507-645-3020 to check for shelter availability.
Reservations are taken after Jan. 1 for the coming rental season and must be made at least one month in advance of rental date. All reservations require a $100 damage deposit. Check will be destroyed after shelter has been inspected and found acceptable. Damage deposit and rental fee must be received seven business days after reservation was placed to secure rental date and time. Cancellations require 72-hour notice.
Sechler Park – 100 person capacity
Located off Armstrong Road and Sechler Park Road.
Amenities include playground equipment, ball fields, open play area, restrooms, picnic tables, wooded area, drinking water, nearby Cannon River, paved trail linking to Mill Towns Trail, garbage containers and parking lot.
Oddfellows Park – 125 person capacity
Located at the intersection of Forest Avenue and Lincoln Street.
Amenities include playground equipment, restrooms, wooded area, gazebo, open play area, sidewalks, picnic tables, park benches, drinking water, garbage containers and grill.
Riverside Lions Park – 75 person capacity
Located at the intersection of Eighth Street and Linden Street South.
Amenities include playground equipment, restrooms, open play area, trails, park benches, picnic tables, drinking water, garbage containers, nearby Cannon River and grill.
Spring Creek Park - 100 person capacity
Located at the intersection of Jefferson Parkway and Maple Street. Amenities include an ADA accessible playground, open play area adjacent to the soccer complex, trails, park benches, picnic tables, drinking fountain, and garbage containers.
Picnic Tables
The City of Northfield rents picnic tables for public use. The rental fee is $10 for each table, multiplied by the number of days the tables are rented. Reservations must be made at least one week in advance of the event date. The total fee and $100 damage deposit must be received within seven days after the reservation is made to secure date and time of rental. It is the responsibility of the renter to pick up and return tables from the city’s Street Maintenance Facility at 1710 Riverview Drive.Picnic Table Reservation Form
Barricades
The City of Northfield has barricades that can be used by the public. Use of barricades requires a $50 deposit that will be refunded upon return of barricades and an acceptable inspection of items. Showmobile
The City of Northfield offers rental of a showmobile, limited to locations within the city, on weekends, holidays and after 4 pm on weekdays. The showmobile’s basic stage dimension is 24’ x 13.5’. With additional staging, the total stage dimension is 40’ x 20’. Rental fees for the showmobile are based desired stage dimension, type of organization renting the unit, travel and set up/take down time and length of event.City staff will deliver the showmobile to the event location. Renters are required to have a representative on site at the time of set up. The showmobile requires a 110-volt, 20-amp receptacle for lighting. If power supply is more than 200 feet from showmobile, the renter must provide a portable generator.
All showmobile renters are required to submit proof of insurance by submitting a Certificate of Liability Insurance, listing the City of Northfield as 'additional insured.' Insurance is required to be in the amount of $1,500,000 per occurrence for general liability.
