Mayor's Youth Council
The Mayor's Youth Council was formed in 2006 by Mayor Lee Lansing. Comprised of 15 local youth, the Mayor's Youth Council seeks to assure youth input into civic affairs and works on initiatives to positively impact local young people.
The Mayor's Youth Council consists of local high school juniors and seniors, appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council. Youth Council members are selected to serve on two-year terms or until they graduate from high school. Members do not receive monetary compensation.
Application and Membership Requirements
The Mayor recommends applicants to the City Council each spring based on their interests and willingness to serve. Applications for the Mayor's Youth Council can be found at the following link: Application
Applications for the 2011-12 Mayor's Youth Council are due to Marnie Thompson in the Northfield High School Office or Simon Tyler at ARTech by 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2011.
Meetings
Meetings are held one or two times per month 7:00 p.m. with announcements of the meetings being placed on the City's website calendar; special meetings are occasionally called. Meetings are typically held in the City Hall 2nd Floor Conference Room; however, please call the City of Northfield to verify location if planning to attend. It is desired that members make every attempt to be present at all meetings.
