Design Advisory Board

The City of Northfield Design Advisory Board (DAB) is an advisory board to the staff or other applicable authority. The DAB is concerned exclusively with the visual or aesthetic environment of this municipality. It promotes beauty, order, continuity and restraint as desirable principles reflecting a healthy, prosperous and pleasant community. The board consists of six members, appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council. Each member serves a three-year term. There are no term limits. Members do not receive monetary compensation.

Application and Membership Requirements

There are two new appointments each year. The Mayor recommends applicants to the City Council based on their interests, willingness to serve and background. The following areas of interest and professions must be represented by at least one member of the board: business community, architecture and allied arts. Others must possess a desire to keep Northfield architecturally beautiful.

Meetings

Meetings are scheduled on an as needed basis. For transaction of business at any meeting, three members constitute a quorum. It is desired that members make every attempt to be present at all meetings.
