Events & Programs for Children
The Northfield Public Library is a place where children can follow their dreams and pursue their interests. We offer a wide variety of educational and entertaining programs for children of all ages, with a special emphasis on early literacy and special "no-school" events. Check the calendar for upcoming events.
Story Times:The library offers age-appropriate preschool programs for kids from six months to six years.
- Patty Cake Infant Lapsit is especially designed to encourage development of language and motor skills. For ages six to18 months accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
- Toddler Rhyme Time is designed to encourage development of language and motor skills by integrating movement, songs, books, and rhymes for children ages 18 months to three years who are accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
- Preschool Story Hour is for four and five-year-olds who are ready to sit and listen to a picture book, sing songs and create a small art project.

Summer Reading Programis an entertaining way to keep kids learning all summer long. Look for information on the 2016 Summer Reading Program in May.
